Women-Founded, Women Funded
Meet Odele For Good

“Beauty that has your back” goes beyond shampoo and conditioner.
Since launching in January 2020, Odele has earned recognition for its salon-quality products for everyone. But the company’s values go beyond beauty, with a commitment to the advancement of women and breaking down barriers that get in the way of their opportunities.
It all started when Odele’s co-founders, Lindsay Holden, Britta Chatterjee, and Shannon Kearney, took a hard look at their bathrooms and noticed a pattern. Their showers were cluttered with products for themselves, their partners and their children, and quite frankly, it was excessive. They strongly believed that premium, high-quality, gender-neutral haircare can and should be widely available at an accessible price point. So, when they couldn’t find a solution on the shelves, they set out to create their own salon-grade products that were accessible to everyone. But their purpose went deeper. As women, they understood that raising the bar in beauty standards would mean forging their own path.
It’s no secret that women and girls face unique hurdles to success at just about every stage of life. A study from the Yale School of Management found that women entrepreneurs receive 14% less funding than their male counterparts, and LinkedIn reports that women are 28% less likely to have strong professional networks, which means they aren’t getting the same introductions, meetings, and opportunities as men.

As the co-founders prepared to introduce Odele to the beauty world, they saw accessibility to opportunity at the heart of their purpose and carried it forward to launch. From the very beginning, the idea of doing good has been threaded into every layer of the Odele business; these efforts are now formally known as Odele For Good.
“From the onset, we’ve been a purpose-driven brand, and we’ve had a clear throughline of supporting underserved and underestimated women and families, empowering others to reach their full potential and working towards removing barriers—either systematic or societal—to enable opportunities,” says Lindsay Holden, Co-founder of Odele. “As our business has grown, so has our commitment to giving back and paying it forward. Odele For Good collaborates and invests in organizations that breakdown barriers and empower women in entrepreneurship, mentorship, education, and community—in turn, making opportunity more accessible.”
At LAB, a fellow women-founded business, we’ve partnered with Odele for the last two years. They’ve shown up for us both in-person and within the pages of Collective Magazine, supporting us from our very first issue. They believed in us when we had only the seed of an idea, which is precisely when it was so crucial to have support from others (and oftentimes, when it’s hardest to find it!).

Odele For Good shows up to support women and communities across the nation, but in Minnesota, Odele has a few special partnerships, including the powerhouse players of the Minnesota Lynx. With shared values of inclusivity, standards of excellence, and a commitment to purpose-led work, Odele and the Lynx are looking forward to all that’s to come in year two of their partnership.
Odele is also proud to partner with the Jeremiah Program, a national organization established to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children, two generations at a time. Support from Odele goes to Spark Tank, a pitch competition by the Jeremiah Program to elevate moms and alumni, generating funds for their existing and new business ideas. In addition, Odele also provides mentorship and networking opportunities to Spark Tank finalists and winners with the goal of advancing participants’ ideas into realities.
In the beauty aisle and beyond, Odele continues to grow—delivering on its purpose and products to people and the planet.
